The Short Version
The challenge
Samaritans Ireland wanted to make sure people in prison clearly understood the support available to them — including what happens when they call, who they will speak to, and that Samaritans volunteers are there to listen without judgement.
The information needed to be simple, reassuring and accessible, while dealing sensitively with subjects including isolation, relationships, sentencing, release and suicidal feelings.
Our approach
We developed a joined-up communications campaign built around clear language and straightforward visual storytelling.
The campaign included two animated videos, an A3 poster and an A4 leaflet, with each element designed to reinforce the same key messages.
We stripped the information back to what people really needed to know, using approachable characters, simple visual metaphors and an empathetic tone throughout. The animations were also designed with prison TV viewing in mind, so the message needed to work clearly and quickly on screen.
The result
A consistent suite of communications that explains Samaritans' prison support in a clear, human and accessible way — across animation, print and on-screen communication.
